There are only two, count them, two professional basketball players in the history of the NBA to have a true signature shoe legacy. That is to say, two players that have had more of their signature shoes purchased after they have retired than when they were actually playing. The impact that these two players had on the shoe industry as well as the basketball court put them in a truly elite class. About as elite as you can get. We all know who one of these legendary players was. Of course Nike Air Max 1 I speak of the man, the myth, the legend that is Michael Jordan. But do we all know who the second player was. If you are a true sneakerhead you most certainly do know. Pey Hardaway is of course the second player I speak of. Hardaway's signature sneaker line was and still is one of the most epic signature sneaker lines that Nike Basketball has ever released. Second only to the Jordan signature line of shoes. You just might be familiar with that line. The Nike Air Max Pey was the first signature sneaker that Pey laced up. Since then, multiple models have dropped under the Pey Hardaway signature sneaker line. The newest Pey signature sneaker that Nike will release is the Zoom Rookie LWP. This new shoe will utilize an epic shoe design material that is synonymous with Pey. Foamposite. The Nike Foamposite One is one of the signature sneakers that Hardaway rocked in 1997. Foamposite technology uses polyurethane which allows the foot to mold to an individual's foot during the heat of play. This Foamposite, like Pey's signature sneaker line, continues to leave a lasting imprint on the sneaker world. This new Pey signature shoe will use both a premium nubuck leather and Foamposite on it's upper to create a one of a kind look. In addition, unique outsole pods balance the look of this upper. Foamposite is featured on the toe and heel panels while the nubuck fills in the upper. All this sits atop a translucent color tinted outsole. Pey's legendary 1Cent logo is Air Max 1 used on the tongue while the Swoosh is placed on the toe box. Several colorways are slated for release with the first one dropping the second week of November. The new Nike Zoom Rookie LWP is headed for epic status. It will join a long list of Nike shoes for basketball that make up the legendary Pey Hardaway signature sneaker line. Pey himself is on a much shorter list. A list of two. And that's an extremely exclusive list. I have been an avid sneakerhead for 40 years. From ruing shoes to my true passion, basketball shoes, I own more pairs of shoes than I can count. Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, and Reebok are dropping some pretty sick kicks right now. If you are like a sneakerhead like me, you truly can't wait for tomorrow when news of a new sneaker drop will be aounced.
